April 20th – Learn Brioche Pt 1 of 2

Skill Level: Beginner and up

Class Description: Learn the brioche stitch! We will start a simple 2 color brioche scarf that will first teach you the brioche using one color then we will add a second color to work the majority of the scarf and then finish up with one color. Brioche is a stitch technique that creates a lofty, plush, light weight, double sided fabric. When two colors are used, each side is the reverse color from the other making it a completely reversible fabric.

Material Needed:

  • 1 – 24” circular needle up to two sizes smaller than the size recommended for your chosen yarn.
  • 2 – contrasting yarns, approximately 200 yards of EACH color for a short scarf, more for a longer one. You may use any weight but keep in mind that you will be using a much smaller needle than normal. I suggest using worsted, heavy worsted or bulky and to choose a lofty or sticky yarn. Heavy yarns and those with a lot of drape will not give good results.
  • 1 – Locking stitch marker
  • Note paper and pen or pencil
  • Optional: handi tool or crochet hook.

Pattern:  Scarf Pattern provided and is included in the price of the class.

What skills you should have: Beginner and up

What skills you will learn: How to create the brioche stitch in 1 color then in 2 colors.

Homework: Purchase all materials needed before the day of class and have yarn wound if needed.
