July 19th – Advanced Projects – Summer Tops pt 2

Class Name: Advanced Projects – Summer Tops Pt 2

Class Date: Thursday July 19th

Class Hours: 10:00am – 12:00pm

Instructor: Terry King

Class Cost: $35 per 2 hour session

Skill Level: Experienced Beginner to Advanced

Class Description: Summer tops can be a lot faster and lighter weight to knit during these warmer days of summer as well as fun to wear! I have 4 suggestions for patterns but you may choose your own. The only criteria are they need to have more advanced techniques like short rows, provisional cast ons, lace, etc….

Ginga Top by Yoko Johnston, a lovely A-line tee with lace insets that can be made as a tank, plus you receive a 2nd pattern for a long sleeved version.
Cullum by Isabell Kraemer this is the one that we did later in the summer last year.
Linum Tee by Bristol Ivy is the one with the Fisherman’s Rib shoulders.
Insouciant by Julie Hoover this one is knit bottom up with slit hem and short rows.

Material Needed for Ginga Top:

  • Pattern: Ginga by Yoko Johnston
  • 776 – 1148 yards fingering weights yarn (can be plant based or wool. I suggest Louet Euroflax (Pam ordered more), Shibui Reed or Twig,  Malabrigo Mechita, or TML)
  • US #4 circular needles and double points (or a long circular for magic loop)
  • Removable markers
  • stitch holders
  • tapestry needle
  • 3.5 mm (size E) crochet hook
  • waste yarn

For the other tops, please see each individual pattern for the materials needed. We will be happy to help you select an appropriate yarn.

If you missed the first class and want to get started please let us know and we can set up a catch up class!
