Skill Level: Experienced Beginner and up
Class Description: Learn the structure of how knitting patterns are written, what standard abbreviations mean, typical phrases used and what they really mean, the sequence of instructions, the importance of extra notes and some of the confusions they can cause. Then we will practice reading and understanding some popular patterns.

Skills you should have: A basic understanding of how knit and purl stitches are created.
Skills you will learn: The basics of how to read patterns, standard abbreviations, knitting language, the structure of how patterns are written, the three types of knitting charts, how to read charts, standard chart symbols and how to use the legend.
Homework: Find patterns that you already have to practice reading.
