In this class you will learn how to knit an Icelandic style, top-down, circular yoke colorwork pullover. You have your choice of pattern as long as it is worked top-down with stranded colorwork techniques. Popularly requested patterns are Red Moon by Born & Raised Knits, Yokey Dokey by Gudrun Johnston, Illuminate by Andrea Mowry, Grouse Creek by Amy Christoffers, many by Tin Can Knits, Jennifer Steingass, and Caitlin Hunter. In this class you will learn:
1. How to choose the correct size and ensure your sweater will fit.
2. How to work with color stranding techniques to suit your abilities and knitting style.
3. How to modify patterns to suit your own tastes and body shape.
4. How to work a circular yoke from the neck down.
5. Short row shaping if needed for your pattern or for modifications.
6. Tips & Tricks to help make things easier for you along the way.
The Red Moon pattern is worked in fingering/sock weight but you may choose a pattern with any weight you feel comfortable working with and have a reasonable chance of finishing by the end of the class. The first few classes will be scheduled weekly to get you off to a good start then classes will be scheduled further apart to give you more knitting time.
Six class session are scheduled over eight weeks.
1st class will be focused on sizing, gauge, modifications, and discussion of color dominance.
2nd class will be working the neckline, setup, and short rows (if needed.)
3rd class will be starting the colorwork and determining your style of working with two colors at a time.
4th class will be trouble shooting and how to divide for sleeves.
There will be a then be a couple of weeks for work on the body of your sweater
5th class will be finishing the body and returning to work the sleeves
6th class will be finishing the sweater.
(This schedule if subject to modification depending on students and how we progress.)
Social Help time session are included in the class price for the duration of the class.
If you are an experienced knitter and feel you don't need all of these classes, please talk to us and we may be able to schedule you for individual sessions depending on how many students signup.

Bring a pullover top or sweater you like with a similar fit to how you want your sweater to fit.
It is highly recommended that you purchase an extra hank of your main color in case you need more yarn than you think. DO NOT have it wound so you can return it if you don't use it.|
