Beginning Colorwork - Hat or Cowl

Begin your colorwork exploration with this class! We will be using the Anthology "recipe" by Tin Can Knits. This is available as a free pattern on Ravelry and in their e-book Strange Brew. We suggest purchasing the whole e-book as Terry will be basing some future colorwork classes on the patterns and "recipes" it contains. We can help you purchase the pattern or book if needed.

"What I love about these patterns is they teach you in simple terms how to create your own unique garments while still following a pattern. You can select the yarn weight and as many colors as you like, all the math is already done for you!" --Terry

In this class you will learn how to work with multiple colors (but never more than two in any given row!) as well as how to read instructions and color charts, learn how to control your tension, gauge, and many hints and tips to help you get ready to create sweaters and other stranded colorwork projects that fit.

The "recipe" is given for various yarn weights, Fingering, DK, and Aran as well as hat sizes from newborn to large Adult and cowl sizes from toddler to adult in both long and short versions.

Yarn quantities and needles are listed in the pattern for each yarn weight and size.

Session 1 will be planning our projects and selecting our materials and gauging. Homework will be to cast on and work ribbing before next class.
Session 2 will be beginning the colorwork sections and will cover reading the charts, learning how you will work with two colors to suit your knitting style.
Session 3 we will continue with our pattern section and trouble shooting.
Session 4 finishing the crown, finishing and weaving in ends.
