Beginning Colorwork - Hat or Cowl - Tuesdays

Colorwork garments have been all the rage over the past couple of years. Most of these utilize either Mosaic colorwork or Stranded colorwork. In this class you will learn how to create pictures and patterns in color using the Stranded method as is done in the Fair Isles, Iceland, and Scandinavian countries.

You will learn about color dominance, how to carry yarns across the back of the work, catch in long floats, read colorwork charts (the easiest type of chart to read), some color theory, history, and tips & tricks. You might even learn to knit with both hands if you choose.

You may choose your own hat or cowl pattern or choose from one of the suggestions below. (click on the photo to go to the pattern in Ravelry)

She will take into account your current abilities, the quality of the pattern writing, and the difficulty of the colorwork.

Tin Can Knits patterns are also highly recommended for beginners. The ebook Strange Brew is a wonderful book of patterns and how to "recipes."

You will need to purchase the pattern of your choice and the materials listed in the pattern.
If you need assistance Terry will be happy to help.
