Beginning Knitting November 2024



In the first two classes you will learn the most common method to cast on, how to work the knit stitch in a manner that works for you. You will also learn the method of knitting most suitable for you. In the second class you will learn how to work the purl stitch and how to alternate knits & purls. In the third class you will start a scarf to practice your new skills! You will also learn to read a very basic pattern.

Requirements: Practice yarn: For the best learning results you will need: Worsted weight (#4) regular wool in a light to medium color. Wooden Knitting Needles size choice of US #7, 8, or 9 (4.5mm - 5.5mm). (Acrylic and cotton yarns are not recommended because they tend to be harder for beginners to manage. If you have an allergy to wool, acrylic will be acceptable. Metal needles are often too slippery for beginners.)

Instructor Bio: Terry has over 45 years of fiber arts experience and has been teaching knitting & crochet in the local Reno area for over 15 years. Her teaching style is inclusive. Her philosophy is that you will learn best working with your own natural inclinations and abilities. She can teach both left & right handed - English, Continental, or your own unique method.
