Beginning Crochet November 2024



Class Objectives: In this class you will learn the basic crochet stitches The chain stitch, single
crochet stitch, and double crochet stitch. How to hold and manipulate your crochet hook, how to
tension your yarn and how to increase and decrease the amount of stitches to create shaping.

You will learn how to read a crochet pattern and make a hat.


List of materials:

  • One skein or ball of worsted weight yarn appox. 200 yards.
  • Size H 5.0 mm crochet hook.
  • Locking stitch markers.

We all learn at different rates. The following schedule is meant as a guide and for you to learn at your own pace.

Lesson one: Crochet Techniques and chaining
Lesson two: Single crochet stitch, Double crochet stitch, anatomy of crochet stitches
Lesson three: Crochet in the round and the beginning of the hat.
Lesson four: Working on and finishing the hat.
