April 20th Cocoknits Sweater Planning Workshop (prerequisite for taking the workshop)


Class Name: Cocoknit Sweater Workshop – Planning session

Class Date: Saturday April 20th

Class Hours: 10:00am – 12:00pm

Instructor: Terry King

Class Cost: $35

Skill Level: Experienced beginning and up

Class Description: In this 2 hour class We will go over fit, style, your measurement, how to swatch, and then help you choose the best pattern and yarn combination for your body and tastes. You will then have 10 days before the start of the workshop for ordering yarn, if needed, and working up a proper gauge swatch and laundering it. We will then be all set to get straight to work during the workshop.

Please bring a garment that fits you well for us to measure for added information for determining fit.

If you need help planning your project you must attend this planning class.This is a prerequisite for the workshop! If you need help but can’t attend please let Pam or Terry know so we can make sure you get the help you need to be successful.

Material Needed for the full workshop: (*items marked with an astrisk are needed for this planning class. )

  • Pattern:
    • Cocoknits Sweater Workshop Book*
    • Cocoknits Sweater Worksheet Journal
  • Yarn: You can use a wide array of yarns. We will help you choose an appropriate yarn in the April 20th class. The sample Emma version C Cardigan was worked in Berroco Aero.
  • Needles:
    • 40” long circular needle with flexible cord in size(s) according to pattern or size to get gauge.
    • DPN or circular needle size US 0-2 for picking up stitches
  • Essential Notions:
    • Cocoknits color codes stitch markers
    • Waste yarn or Cocoknits Threaded Needle & cord.
    • Measuring tape*
    • Scissors
    • Darning needle
    • Pencil for filling in worksheet
    • Optional: Handi-tool, Row Counter, clip, point protectors.
    • You may also want a 16”circular and double points in size to get gauge if you don’t like magic loop for sleeves.


Skills you should have: Students should be at least experienced beginners. This class can be suitable for a first sweater project.

Skills you will learn: You will learn the Cocoknits method for determining style, fit and then choose which garment you want to make and then find an appropriate yarn.

Homework: Please purchase the book before April 20th. For May 2nd you must have a satisfactory gauge swatch worked and laundered. Please have your yarn wound (if needed) before class.
