Class Name: Create a Celtic Shawl

Class Description: Knit a stunning shawl starting with a garter tab, moving to a mostly garter body, and finish it off with a lace reminiscent of ancient Abbey ruins. Choose a high contrast two color version a single color, and also choose a large or small size. Increase your knitting confidence by knitting a top down triangular shawl and learning to read a knitting chart. You won’t regret it!
Materials Needed: 2-3 skeins of fingering weight yarn in the same color or in high contrast, US 5 (3.75mm) needs as needed for gauge
One Color Scheme: 430 – 500 yards Larger size: 936 yds 856m
Two Color Scheme: MC – 250 yds 275m; CC – 250 yds 237m 500 yards 440m total. Larger size: MC – 520 yds 475m; CC – 415 yds 380m 935 yards 854m total.
Gauge: 21 sts/28 rows = 4”/10cm in stockinette stitch (after blocking).

Skills you will learn: garter tab, pick up stitches, kfb, reading a lace chart,
Homework: Wind yarn. Knit a swatch in stockinette and/or garter to make sure you like the fabric you’re making. The main body is in garter and the lace in on top of stockinette. Measure your swatch and compare to the recommended gauge in stockinette.
