June 6th, 13th, & 20th The Weekender by Andrea Mowry

Class Name:  The Weekender by Andrea Mowry

Class Date: Thursdays June 6th, 13th, & 20th

Class Hours: 10:00am – 12:00pm

Instructor: Terry King

Class Cost: $100

Skill Level: Experienced Beginner

Class Description: The Weekender is a seamless bottom up, drop shouldered sweater that will look fabulous in the new Brooklyn Tweed Marls!

Andrea says, “This drop shoulder sweater is my most favorite addition to my handmade wardrobe! When Brooklyn Tweed came out with their line of marls for Shelter, I knew I needed a marled sweater. I combined my favorite attributes – texture, faux seams, drop shoulder, and some positive ease to create this versatile, flattering sweater! No matter your body type, it is perfect for wearing to the office or out on your weekend hike in the woods. I’ve already knit a second version, leaving off the sleeves so I can wear it in warmer weather or layered over a long sleeve tee!”

Material Needed:

Pattern: The Weekender by Andrea Mowry

  • Yarn: 915 – 1640 yards of Brooklyn Tweed Shelter,we suggest using a marled colorway but any colorway will work just fine. Or the same yardage in a similar worsted weight yarn.
  • Needles:
    • US 7/ 4.5mm – 40”/100 cm circular for tubular cast on
    • US 8/ 5mm – 40”/100 cm circular and DPNs for ribbing
    • US 9/5.5mm- 40”/100 cm circular and DPNs for main fabric
  • Notions:
    • Stitch markers (3)
    • Tapestry needle
    • Scissors
    • Stitch holders or waste yarn
    • A row counter is recommended

Gauge: (worked over stockinette stitch in the round & blocked): 18 sts x 27 rows = 4”/10 cm using largest needles

Note: Pattern is designed to be worn with 10” of positive ease. The ease is built into the pattern so choose the size closest to your actual full bust measurement.

Skills you will learn: You will learn how to knit a seamless sweater from the bottom up with a split hem and drop shoulders. You will also learn short row shaping.
