Class Name: Reading Knitting Patterns and Charts

Class Description: This is one of the most requested classes! Learn how to read knitting patterns and charts by first understanding the language and notation used in writing pattern. Then learn common layouts, how to read through the pattern to understand and how to tell if the pattern is well written. We will touch on the key points to find in a pattern for determinging your size, the yarn needed and how much yardage. The we will take a fly over of the general how to read knitting charts and the different types of charts. Then we will practice reading some patterns and put our new knowledge into practice.
Pattern: Please bring any that you have questions about reading
Skills you should have: General skills and good reading glasses if you need them.
Skills you will learn: You will learn how knitting instructions are generally constructed, common abbreviations, how to read through a pattern, and what to look for in a well written pattern. We will go over the general rules for reading knitting charts and a review of the types of charts used.
