Class Description: Cabling is a technique for creating textural twists, plaits, braids, and other designs in your knitted projects. The most well known use of cables is the traditional Aran Fisherman’s Sweaters. The basic technique for creating these textures is through the rearrangement of the order the stitches are worked. In this series we will work through several projects of increasing complexity between now and the holidays, giving you the opportunity to create gifts with your new skills. The main projects in the series will begin with the New Year when we all have more time to work larger projects.
Section One will begin by learning basic twists combined with texture. We will knit the Green Forest headband by Renata Ridley this class will be 2 parts.
Section Two will incorporate our new skills with traveling stitches and knitting in the round with Stovetop by Tin Can Knits and will also be a 2 part class.
Section Three will move onto creating your own small project like throw pillows, cowls, or something similiar.
Section Four will be where you can choose your own large cabled project like a pullover, cardigan, or blanket and will start around the New Year.
Section One: Green Forest Headband
Gauge: Is not super critical with this project but you must knit tightly enough to get good stitch definition but not so tightly that you struggle to create the cables. If you are a loose knitter plan to adjust your needle size down. If you are tight knitter plan to adjust your needle size up.
